Hairdressing Qualifications

A progression route from industry entry to advanced creative work, accredited by City & Guilds.

Level 2 — Diploma for Hairdressing Professionals

The recognised industry entry qualification. Combines technical skills with the consultation, commercial and customer-care knowledge needed to work on a salon floor.

Core units

Assessment

Duration: 1–2 years depending on attendance pattern. Progression: Level 3 Advanced, apprenticeship, employment as a junior stylist.

Level 3 — Advanced & Creative Hair Professional

For learners who have completed Level 2 and want to develop into advanced colour, cutting and styling work — the standard for professional stylist roles.

Assessment

A professional discussion is required towards the end of the programme, alongside practical observation and portfolio evidence.

Duration: 12–18 months. Progression: stylist, senior stylist, salon owner, educator.

Kit: a full kit list is provided on enrolment. Many of the items can be sourced through the academy at preferential rates.
