Apprenticeships at E-Salon
For apprentices and employers — how our apprenticeships work, what they cost, and what each party signs up to.
The standards we deliver
| Standard | Code | Level | Typical duration |
| Hair Professional | ST0214 | Level 2 | 24–30 months |
| Barbering Professional | ST0215 | Level 2 | 24 months |
| Advanced & Creative Hair Professional | ST0001 | Level 3 | 18–24 months |
Each standard consists of on-programme learning, regular off-the-job training, then an independent End-Point Assessment (EPA) at gateway.
How time is split
- Minimum 6 hours per week off-the-job training (delivered at the academy & in-salon).
- Remaining hours worked in the employer's salon, paid at apprentice rate or above.
- Functional skills support in English & maths where needed.
For employers
What you commit to
- Employ the apprentice — ideally for 30 hours per week — on a contract of employment.
- Pay at least the National Minimum Wage apprenticeship rate (or your salon rate, whichever is higher).
- Release the apprentice for off-the-job training each week.
- Provide a workplace mentor and progression conversations every 8–12 weeks.
Funding
- Levy-paying employers: 100% of the training cost funded from the levy account.
- Non-levy / small employers: government co-investment covers 95–100% (subject to current ESFA rules).
- Employer incentive payments may apply — check current scheme.
For apprentices
You'll need to
- Be in paid employment in a salon (we can help match you to a partner salon).
- Attend the academy for off-the-job sessions on your scheduled day.
- Keep an up-to-date learning log / portfolio.
- Engage with reviews and functional skills support if applicable.
What you'll get
- A nationally recognised Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
- Paid work and a real client base from day one.
- Mentoring from premier educators and working professionals.
End-Point Assessment
EPA is conducted by an independent assessment organisation, typically over two days, and includes a practical observation, professional discussion and submitted portfolio. We prepare every apprentice through mock assessments in the months before gateway.
